2022-23 REGISTRATION IS OPEN
Registration IS OPEN - Please be sure to read all registration details.

Hello Hornet Families,

We hope this finds you all safe and healthy. We are excited to get started with the 2022-23 Hockey Season and can’t wait to see our Hornets back on the ice in the fall.

This season brings with it some new challenges and changes. We ask that you read this email in its entirety and we hope we have answered all your questions.

There is really no easy way to say it – our Registration Fees are going up. This is not a decision that comes easily and without a lot of discussion and thought. The executive has assessed anticipated expenses based on previous seasons and researched neighboring centers and feel confident that our rates are still competitive with other centers in our area.

There are several reasons for the need to increase registration fees. Most notably, the Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) voted earlier this year that there would no longer be gate fees at minor hockey games. This is the admission fee you have always paid both at home and away games. This admission fee allowed the organization to pay referees and timekeepers for those games, and help offset some of the ice costs. Now that we can no longer charge an admission fee, the expense is being shifted upfront into registration. Although this is a change in the timing of this payment to upfront at registration instead of at games, we hope that families will recognize that this is an expense that was already existing and it is just the timing of this payment that is changing. In addition to this, the cost of ice rentals as well as the cost of referees and their mileage have also increased drastically.

All of these changes and increased  costs are factored into our yearly operating budget  and are the reason for our increased fees this season.

Additionally, NEW THIS SEASON - REP PLAYERS ONLY – There will be a fee for ALL players who make a REP team (U11-U18).  This fee of $125, is in addition to the regular registration fee and is to facilitate additional ice time for team practices. We have heard your requests over the past few seasons and understand families want more ice time for the REP teams. This will be implemented this season.

At this time, we want to advise all families upfront that it is very likely that we will be booking additional ice at neighboring centers (IE: Havelock) for both practices and games throughout the season – all teams.

Registration fees for the 2022-2023 season are:

Mites $150/session             Home Center Subsidized Rate $100

U7 $550                            Home Center Subsidized Rate $350

U9 $600                            Home Center Subsidized Rate $400

U11-U18 $725
U21 $425 - No Rep Fee

*$125 REP FEE will be added to all REP players accounts after teams are picked and rostered.
