Building A Legacy - NDMS Legacy Fund
Become Part of the List of Builders

Norwood Minor Sports is launching a new Legacy Fund to ensure that young people in the community can continue to play organized sports for many years to come at an affordable price and ensuring the best possible training and development that is available.

Two years ago, a small group of anonymous philanthropists in the community made a commitment to Norwood Minor Sports to donate $5000 per year for five years to offset the registration costs of the youngest players in the organization. The idea was to encourage Norwood and area families to sign up locally and give their young athletes the experience of playing hockey.  Registration rates for the organizations youngest teams have been amongst the lowest in the province thanks to the generosity of these donors, and their contributions have seen increases in the number of young people trying out hockey at a young age.  This year the donors have once again contributed their $5000 donation, but they have also suggested that we start to build upon the donations they have made to ensure that beyond their five year commitment, we could continue to grow and develop hockey players in the community.

As a result, Norwood Minor Hockey is launching the Norwood Minor Sports Legacy Fund.  The mission of the fund will be to develop and fund programs that either don’t exist within the organization or to improve the opportunities that do exist and to continue to fund the introduction of hockey to the community at an early age.

Hockey has a long and proud history in Norwood and the surrounding area.  Many great hockey players, all around athletes and successful men and women have developed through the opportunities they had playing hockey in Norwood.  Many leadership skills and life lessons are introduced at the arena that our players carry on into their lives and careers.  It is time to give back to the organization that helped shape the person you have become.

Norwood Minor Sports is calling on all alumni and friends of the organization to considering making donations into the Legacy Fund.  We are launching the fund in advance of Christmas to ensure that anyone wishing to make a donation as a Christmas Gift this year can do so immediately.   Consider making a donation in the name of a friend or family member, and they will be added to the list of Legacy Builders! Donating is simple and easy, and you will receive a certificate in recognition of your donation that you can wrap up and put under your tree.  This is a great gift for the friend that has everything, the idea that they can be part of a lasting legacy in our community will be an honor!

To make a donation today, please contact Jennifer Stewart at 705-760-4234 or Email [email protected].

Sincerely,

Jennifer Barton-Crowley –Norwood Minor Sports President 2020-21
