Hockey Families
We hope
this message finds you safe and well during these challenging times.
We wanted
to write to everyone associated with Norwood Minor Hockey to update you on our
planning for next hockey season. While there are still many unknowns at
this time, we are hopeful that there will be news in the near future about what
to expect for next season. As an executive we continue to plan for next
season and we will make adjustments as we learn more from our government and
health officials and from Hockey Canada and the Ontario Minor Hockey
Association. The NDMS Executive Committee continues to meet,
discuss options and plans for the upcoming season - whatever it may be.
We have made some early decisions that we wanted you to be aware of:
- The executive is considering all options related to our registration process and fees for next season. We want to assure you that we will not be looking to increase the registration rates from last season – in fact we are looking at the possibility of using some of the organizations reserves to make registration more affordable for our families. We have consciously been saving money each year in the event that we would need to draw on these reserves, and we believe the realities of the economy and the impact on our hockey families may mean it is an important time to pull from our reserve funds. We recognize that many families may be dealing with some uncertainty at this time, and we want you to know that we understand and will do what we can to ensure all children in our community can continue to play hockey.
- We are moving forward with coach selection for next season. Please see the details on our website if you are interested in becoming a coach. While we are unsure of exactly what our season will look like, we will do our best to ensure that our players continue to develop their skills and love of the game.
- We will continue to hold off on initiating registration for next season. Don’t worry, that doesn’t mean we aren’t planning for it, we just want to be able to provide everyone with as many details as we can before moving forward. Stay tuned for registration details in the coming months.
- We are continuing to hold off on our Awards Presentations, Volunteer Appreciation and our associations Annual General Meeting. We continue to monitor the situation, and will either make plans for these events when it is safe to do so, or we will look at alternative ways to celebrate the accomplishments of last year and to get the organization set for the future.
